RHINOPLASTY PRESENTATION

Rhinoplasty can be, depending on the indications, a medical or surgical procedure.

Medical rhinoplasty makes it possible to correct the defects of the nose by injecting a resorbable product: hyaluronic acid. Unlike nose surgery, medical rhinoplasty provides a result that will fade after 12 months. For a patient who is afraid of surgery or who does not want a definitive transformation of the nose, rhinoplasty by injection of hyaluronic acid is the most attractive formula.

Hyaluronic acid is a natural, effective and safe filler that is used daily in aesthetic medicine. It helps to correct notches or bumps in the nose. To limit the action of certain muscles that interfere with the aesthetics of the nose, your cosmetic doctor may also use botulinum toxin injections.

COURSE OF THE RHINOPLASTY INTERVENTION

BEFORE THE INTERVENTION

The first consultation is essential, as it allows the patient’s expectations to be clarified and the treatment plan to be discussed in concrete terms.

The doctor will analyse your face and explain the different treatment options. Together, the patient and the doctor will work out an appropriate treatment plan.

ON THE DAY OF THE OPERATION

First of all, the doctor will make sure that the patient is comfortable and will check that there are no contraindications to the procedure.

After a first step of make-up removal and skin disinfection, the procedure can begin. For medical rhinoplasty, the doctor uses a hyaluronic acid-based product combined with a local anaesthetic.

The injection is always done in the middle axis of the nose, via a needle or a specific cannula, for more comfort and safety.

The duration of the session is about 15 to 20 minutes.

The hyaluronic acid injected into the nose lasts on average 12 months before being totally absorbed by the body.

The patient is always re-evaluated 15 days after the operation to ensure that the result is satisfactory. In all cases, treatment and follow-up are always personalized.

For surgical rhinoplasty, the procedure is performed under general anaesthesia, in the operating room by conventional surgery according to the treatment plan chosen beforehand.

MEDICAL RHINOPLASTY SIDE-EFFECTS

The follow-up is relatively simple.

Bruises may occur and persist for a few days, but are easily camouflaged by make-up.
The nose injection can be sensitive, which is why hyaluronic acid is associated with an anaesthetic. Thus, it is more of a limited discomfort, requiring no prior local anaesthesia.

NB: In exceptional cases, allergies to the product, skin necrosis and compression or vascular emboli have been observed. These problems are often related to poor injection techniques and the use of inappropriate products.
