After a complete clinical examination carried out in our medical hair removal center, the doctor first establishes a protocol according to the patient’s phototype and hairness. Each patient is the subject of a personalized treatment elaborated by our doctors after a clinical and possibly biological examination (blood test), to rule out possible contraindications.

To prepare the session, it is imperative that have a shave done 24 to 48 hours before the procedure. For the face, a scissor cut of the hair is required. This prerequisite is necessary for safety reasons and technical comfort.

Before the session, the doctor makes a final skin examination to validate the procedure. The practitioner and the patient put on protective glasses, then the session begins. The session can last from 10 to 90 minutes depending on the areas treated.

The procedure can sometimes be sensitive, like a small elastic band. A soothing cream will then be given to you after the treatment to soothe any redness.

For certain sensitive areas, an anaesthetic cream can be applied 1 hour before the procedure.

HOW DOES IT WORK ?

Laser hair removal will destroy the root of the hair, thanks to the heat specifically delivered by the laser. This particular light, with a specific wavelength, passes through the skin a few millimetres to reach the hair and destroy it. The laser targets the hair’s melanin (brown pigment in the hair) which absorbs the light beam, and from this reaction is produced heat which will have a therapeutic effect.

Suitable for all phototypes, today’s lasers can treat all areas of the body and all skin types. Do you have matt, mixed or tanned skin? Our medical hair removal center offers you a latest-generation laser solution, the Nd-YAG laser.

WHY DO WE NEED TO DO SEVERAL LASER hair removal SESSIONS?

It is necessary to do several sessions because of the hair cycle. The hair cycle takes place in 3 phases :

Anagène : the period of hair growth where the hair follicle is located at the bottom of the epidermis.

Catagène : the growth stops and the hair detaches from the serynge.

Télogène : at the end of this phase, the hair falls out and another hair enters the anagen phase.

The hairs do not grow synchronously. Definitive laser hair removal is only effective on hair in the anagen phase, the only phase during which the hair is attached to the serynge allowing the light energy of the laser to be conducted to the serynge to destroy it. This is why your doctor will make several appointments with you in our medical hair removal center in Geneva according to the specific characteristics of your hair.

WHAT ARE THE CONTRAINDICATIONS TO LASER hair removal?
