I USE BLEPHAROPLASTY BECAUSE I WANT TO :

  • Lift my drooping eyelids
  • Reduce my bags under the eyes
  • Reduce my excess skin and/or eyelid fat
  • Enjoy a rejuvenation of the face

The skin on your upper and/or lower eyelids sags naturally over time. This effect has a tendency to “age” your eyes, to give you a tired, sometimes even swollen look in spite of yourself. Excess skin on the upper eyelids can also lead to functional and cosmetic disorders. The eyelids can then limit the visual field, or prevent eye make-up from being applied.

Whether it is to erase the undesirable effects of time on your face or to correct functional problems, blepharoplasty is made for you.

BLEPHAROPLASTY PRESENTATION

Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that consists of raising the upper and/or lower drooping eyelids of the face.

For the upper eyelids, the operation is mainly aimed at combating sagging skin due to age, which is manifested by excess skin. Sagging skin (also called dermatochalasis) is a problem that is treated differently from eyebrow drooping.

For the lower eyelids, blepharoplasty aims to fight bags under the eyes. Dark circles can be marked by sagging muscles, excess skin or a fatty hernia.

To treat your eyelid problems, 2 treatments can be offered to you: the first by aesthetic medicine without surgery, the second by aesthetic surgery.

Blepharoplasty by aesthetic medicine without surgery is done with a treatment by Plasma-Exeresis (PLEXR). PLEXR is a medical device that looks like a large pen, it allows the treatment of excess skin and dermatological lesions found in the eye contour: drooping eyelids, expression and age wrinkles, acne scars, etc.

Blepharoplasty by cosmetic surgery is performed with a classic treatment of removal of excess skin. Depending on the expected results, your practitioner will guide you towards the best solution for your needs.

Blepharoplasty is an efficient alternative to non-invasive treatments that are not always sufficient, such as the hyaluronic acid injection. It is intended for both men and women who wish to benefit from a global rejuvenation. Also discover all our different facial aesthetic treatments to beautify and rejuvenate your face.

AREAS TREATED BY BLEPHAROPLASTY

Blepharoplasty is an eyelid surgery that is performed mainly on the upper eyelid, the lower eyelid or both at the same time.

COURSE OF THE BLEPHAROPLASTY INTERVENTION

BEFORE THE INTERVENTION

You meet with your plastic surgeon a few weeks before your plastic surgery. This first consultation will allow your specialist to examine you carefully, taking into account your expectations and needs to guide you towards the best possible intervention.

He will then present you with all the information and formalities that will help you prepare for the day of your operation. Depending on the clinical indication, your doctor may ask you for an ophthalmological or endocrinological check-up to ensure that the operation does not present any risk to you. Whether you are referred for a medical blepharoplasty or a surgical blepharoplasty, you can be sure that you will benefit from an aesthetic treatment 100% tailor-made for your skin.

ON THE DAY OF THE INTERVENTION

To ensure that no abnormalities contraindicate the procedure or cause complications, your cosmetic doctor at the Clinique de la Croix d’Or will first carefully inspect your face. Once this inspection is completed, he or she will carefully remove make-up and cleanse the areas affected by your procedure. Once your skin is perfectly sterile, your doctor will anaesthetize the surface to be treated (using a local cream or micro-injections), so that the operation is painless for you. After a few minutes, the anaesthetic takes effect, allowing the operation to begin.

Please note that for certain surgical procedures (for example, blepharoplasty of the 4 eyelids), a general anaesthetic may be offered.

PLEXR MEDICAL BLEPHAROPLASTY

With this non-surgical treatment, your plastic surgeon does not need to make an incision in your skin. The surgeon uses PLEXR a few millimetres away from your skin to allow a plasma to be applied to the treated area. It is this application that will effectively correct your skin problems. This procedure never takes more than 20 to 30 minutes. At the end of the procedure, the doctor will apply a repairing cream. For optimal results, 2 to 4 sessions are generally recommended (at 30-day intervals).

SURGICAL BLEPHAROPLASTY

For this classic surgery, small incisions are made by your plastic surgeon. Depending on the area affected by your operation, this may be on the upper eyelid or under the eyelashes of the lower eyelid of your face. Through these small incisions, the excess skin is removed as well as the fat responsible for the swelling of your eyelids. This procedure takes between 30 to 45 minutes. At the end of the procedure, the doctor will also apply a repairing cream. The result lasts about 5 to 10 years, and is even permanent for fatty hernia operations.
