Nd YAG is the acronym for neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet or neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet.
The Nd YAG laser is used in aesthetic medicine for laser depilation, tattoo removal, skin remodelling but especially for vascular lesions such as varicosities of the lower limbs and facial telangiectasias.
For example, in the vascular field, the laser shot will be captured by a target in the blood vessel (called a chromophore): oxyhemoglobin. At this level, this absorption will produce heat which will allow the vessel to be closed by coagulation, and thus make the unsightly lesion disappear.
The Nd YAG laser is a versatile laser allowing several treatments in medical aesthetics.
