MORE SENSITIVE LEFT HEMICORPS: WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

During our consultations, we regularly notice an asymmetry in the pain sensation between the right and left sides of the patient.

Why? What can explain such an observation? The Clinique de la Croix d’Or comes back to this curious phenomenon.

During laser sessions or facial injections, for example, this sensation is frequent regardless of the patient’s dominant hand.

A Dutch study seeking to improve patient comfort during aesthetic procedures evaluated the pain perceived during Botox or hyaluronic acid injections.

Despite gentler techniques, finer needles and quality products, asymmetry still persists.

Right-handed people and women are the categories that feel this asymmetrical pain the most.

This can be explained by the positioning of the pain centre in the right cortex and by a lower pain tolerance threshold.

Do not hesitate to initiate a procedure on the left side of the patient!
